GTE Airfone and iDictate.com to Offer One-Hour Voice-to-Text Transcription Service Onboard Eight Airlines
GTE Airfone, Inc. and iDictate.com have
entered into an agreement to provide
iDictate's dictation - transcription service
to passengers on board eight airlines
equipped with advanced digital AirfoneĆ¢ Service from GTE Airfone. The agreement will
enable airline passengers to dictate and
send messages or documents to others on the
ground.
"GTE Airfone is committed to integrating
emerging technologies and cutting-edge
services to enhance its passengers' flying
experiences," said Matt Zuleg, Product
Manager for GTE Airfone. "This new service,
which uses live typists rather than voice
recognition software, gives passengers
greater convenience by allowing them to
create documents without the need for a
personal computer while flying across the
country or across the world."
iDictate's voice-to-text transcription
service utilizes a unique blend of Internet
technology and human intervention that is
dramatically changing the way business and
legal professionals obtain transcribed
documents on a global scale.
According to iDictate Interim CEO Lee
Dorfman, "The new service turns the GTE
Airfone into a dictation device with the
finished document either e-mailed back to
the user for editing or sent directly to the
recipient, usually within an hour.
Passengers essentially have available to
them a secretary any time of day or night
regardless of time zone."
While in flight or on the ground, customers
in North America may dial 1-877-DICTATE to
dictate their documents. Users can dictate
letters, business proposals, meeting
summaries, legal pleadings or any other
document "on-the-fly."
Dorfman cites cost, convenience and speed as
the main benefits of the service. The
customer will be billed by iDictate for the
transcription service at a rate of one-cent
per word and by GTE Airfone for the
in-flight domestic phone call cost , which
includes a $2.99 connection fee per call
plus $3.28 per minute. Until Dec. 31,
iDictate will rebate the $2.99 connection
fee for calls placed from the Airfone
Service.
Airlines equipped with the GTE Airfone
Service include: Continental Airlines, Delta
Air Lines, Delta Express, Midwest Express,
Trans World Airlines, United Airlines,
Shuttle by United and U.S. Airways.
