iDictate: Transcribe on the Fly
you're one of the growing band of business
travelers that don't tote a notebook PC or
PDA around with you, but have business
documents that you want to edit or fax as
soon as possible after your flight, then GTE
Airfone may have the answer.
The in-flight phone company, part of the
Verizon group of companies, has teamed up
with iDictate.com to offer an Airfone-based
transcription service to passengers on board
a plane of one of the eight airlines
equipped with its phones. The business
service, which is also available to users in
economy where an Airfone is available,
offers a one-hour turnaround on dictated
documents.
To use the service, Airfone users on
intercontinental flights, or those within
range of the Airfone service on
international flights, dial 1-877-DICTATE to
call the iDictate.com receptionists. While
users can dictate letters, business
proposals, meeting summaries, legal
pleadings, or any other document, speed is
of the essence, as the Airfone service costs
$2.99 to connect and $3.28 per minute to
use. Other costs of one cent per word are
payable to iDictate.com. (The $2.99 call
connection fee is being rebated until the
end of the year.)
Once the call is completed, iDictate's
staff--who are available on a constant
basis--will tidy up the text and format it,
ready to send it, either as an email or by
fax if required. Airlines equipped with the
GTE Airfone Service include Continental
Airlines, Delta Airlines, Delta Express,
Midwest Express, Trans World Airlines,
United Airlines, Shuttle by United, and US
Airways. For more information, go to http://www.idictate.com.
